Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) at Eastern Virginia Medical School.


NOTE: The application deadline for the SPUR program for summer 2013 has been
extended to March 15.


Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) at Eastern Virginia Medical School.  We will offer several stipends of $3000 each to top applicants for a 10 week, full-time research experience.  Over 20 different research laboratories in the following research areas are available to the students who are chosen:

          -Cancer biology and proteomics                                 -Immunology
          -Cardiovascular biology                                              -Virology
          -Obesity and diabetes                                                -Neuroscience
          -Reproductive biology                                                -Ocular pharmacology
          -Myosin biochemistry                                                 -Radiation biology
         
Students who have completed at least 2 years of college as a biology or chemistry major and have a 3.0 or better GPA, both overall and in science courses, will be considered.  Complete applications, including the attached form, a letter of recommendation from a professor who knows them well and college transcripts, should be sent to the address on the form.
