A temporary research assistant position is available with the Entomology program at Virginia Tech’s tree fruit and wine grape research center in Winchester, VA, beginning mid-May. Duties will involve assisting senior scientist, technician, and PhD students with applied insect ecology and behavior research in laboratory, orchard, and vineyard settings, including implementing experiments, data collection and entry, maintenance of plant material and insect colonies, record keeping and other related tasks. Familiarity with the use of dissecting microscopes is advantageous. Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license. By Virginia Tech policy, a background check of successful applicants will be required, following the start of employment.
The wage offered is $11.00/hour for 40 hours/week.
