Research Internship in Antibody Engineering at MacroGenics

Summary of Position
The Research Intern will be working in the Antibody Engineering Department of MacroGenics, implementing hands on experience on molecular biology techniques and assay validation to facilitate stability improvements of therapeutic antibodies.

Responsibilities and Job Duties

  • Design plasmids for site-directed mutagenesis, cloning and transformations
  • Transient small-scale mammalian transfections of different antibody variants
  • Perform immunoassays to validate expression and antigen binding properties of antibody variants
  • Coordinate with Protein Engineering Division to learn about protein profiles and thermal stabilities
  • Data analysis using the software Lasergene, GraphPad Prism, SoftMax Pro
  • Documenting experimental procedures and results


Qualifications
Education, Certifications & Experience

  • Undergraduate rising juniors, or seniors and graduate students in accredited universities 
  • Must be pursuing a degree in the areas such as Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology or related discipline
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology – cloning, PCR
  • Knowledge of antibody structure, protein chemistry
  • Experience in working with Window-based software and Office programs (Excel/ PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous lab experience
  • Experience with standard molecular biology technique and immunoassay: PCR, ELISA
